Golf Course Sign Restoration

This practice green sign at Royalwood Golf Course in Greendale, BC had developed heavy orange and brown staining from years of irrigation overspray. The hard water had left mineral and rust deposits across the face of the sign, dramatically changing its colour and making it look far older and more weathered than it actually was. Rather than replacing the sign, we wanted to see how much of the original finish could be brought back with the right restoration process.

We treated the surface with a specialized cleaner designed to break down hard water and irrigation rust staining. The product was carefully applied to the affected areas and given time to work into the mineral buildup before the sign was thoroughly rinsed. Because this type of staining is different from normal dirt or organic growth, using the correct chemistry was the key to removing it without relying on excessive pressure or aggressive scrubbing.

The results made a huge difference. The orange staining was removed, revealing the original dark green and white finish underneath. The lettering became much easier to read, and the entire sign looked cleaner, brighter, and far better maintained.

This restoration is a great example of how irrigation rust and hard water staining can completely change the appearance of an exterior surface, and how the right treatment can often bring it back without replacement.
