RV Detailing Tips

How Often Should I Wash My RV/Motorhome
For most RV and motorhome owners in the Fraser Valley, washing the exterior every three to four months is a good general maintenance schedule. However, how often your RV needs to be washed depends heavily on how frequently you use it and where you travel. Motorhomes that spend a lot of time on the road can quickly collect bugs, road film, dirt, tree sap, and other contaminants. Trips near the coast can also expose the exterior to salt, which should be removed as soon as practical to help protect painted surfaces, metal components, decals, and trim.
It is also a good idea to thoroughly wash your RV before and after extended storage. The Fraser Valley's damp climate can encourage algae, moss, mildew, and organic buildup, especially when an RV is parked under trees or in a shaded area for long periods. Regular cleaning helps prevent this buildup from becoming more difficult to remove while giving you an opportunity to inspect the exterior for cracked seals, damaged caulking, loose trim, or other potential maintenance issues.
Certain areas may need attention more often than the rest of the vehicle. The front cap commonly collects bugs and road grime, while roofs, awnings, slide-outs, gutters, and shaded sides can develop organic growth faster. Keeping these areas clean can improve the appearance of your RV while helping protect its exterior materials and preventing debris from accumulating around seals and drainage points.
When cleaning an RV or motorhome, more pressure is not necessarily better. Fiberglass, gel coat, decals, seals, vents, and painted surfaces can all be damaged by aggressive pressure washing or improper chemicals. A safer approach uses RV-appropriate cleaning products, controlled water pressure, soft brushes where necessary, and careful attention around windows, seals, vents, and exterior accessories.
